Here are some simple reminders to help make your work easier!
General Password Measures
Since passwords expire or require you to change them at different intervals, pick a date (like the first working day of each month) to change your passwords. Do not wait for them to expire or start counting down the days until they are revoked or locked out. Give some thought to your new password, and be sure to follow the password criteria. Once you have chosen one you are now ready to change them...
- To change your Network / Active Directory password from your main desktop:
- To change your Mainframe / RACF / IS&C password when at the mainframe West Virginia Office of Technology sign-on screen, type:
Your pound ID, on the 'USER ID' field (Ex = IS#1234).
Your billing Number in the 'P.A.S. No:' field.
Your current Password in the 'Password:' field.
Your new 8-character alpha and numeric password in the 'New Password:' field.
You will now hit enter (whichever key is your enter key for mainframe).
Then you will re-enter the new password for verification.
General Preventive Measures
Exit from every application and log off from the network when you leave at the end of your work day.
Remember your passwords are case sensitive and so watch the Caps Lock and Num Lock keys when entering passwords and that YOUR ID is in the logon box.
Check the documentation or the application's on-line help for items you may want to learn. Most applications have very detailed step by step help.
