The WVOT Cyber Risk Team along with the Project Management Office provides objective, internally independent evaluations to ensure your agency's security controls safeguard information assets, protect privacy, preserve data integrity, and comply with established regulations. Our services are designed to support all departments within the Executive Branch.

Whether you require a scheduled internal review or need assistance navigating complex Federal, State, or Industry regulations (such as IRS, HIPAA, CJIS, or CMS mandates), our program is designed to guide you through the process.

How to Request Audit Support

Information Security Audits can be scheduled in advance or when an agency is notified of an audit requirement. To engage our team, please follow this process:

Submit an Intake Form: To begin, your agency must submit an Audit Assistance Intake form located in the WVOT Self Service Portal.
Schedule a Meeting: If you need to schedule follow-up meetings or hands-on audit support, you can easily select a time that works best for your team through our Cyber Risk Team Booking Calendar.

Support for Third-Party Audits

If your agency is engaged in an IT audit by a third-party entity, you are required to submit an Audit Assistance Intake form in the WVOT Self Service Portal as soon as you receive your audit notification.

The WVOT will actively coordinate with your agency and the third-party auditors to ensure accurate information is provided, avoid duplicate audit efforts, control costs, and facilitate effective follow-up on any recommendations.

Confidentiality & Data Protection

We understand the sensitive nature of your systems. Because audit reports contain critical information—such as IP addresses, digital secrets, and specific vulnerability assessments—internal audit reports are exempt from public disclosure per WV Code §5A-6B-5. Distribution is strictly limited to authorized personnel with a clear business need.
